Some events coming up. First Rockstar Clothing is doing a contest at the Visalia Skatepark August 2nd. They got a little commercial up and if you want more info check out the flyer. They let us skate the soon to be opened Firebaugh park. Ryan Johnson, Steve 'Tex' Baker, Kyle Morris, Erik Halvoren and I trucked out there on Go Skateboarding Day.

Concussion is my favorite magazine save NG , so it is with a bit of reservation that I make this review. Every time I see Davoud I'm like 'who are you, ' then I feel retarded for not recognizing him. But, ya so, if you have been skating for more that 9 years you know Concussion and know what to expect. If not I would like to convey my deepest sympathies for your pathetic ass and ban you to a life of Tar Metal and and blowup friends. This issue contains some solid interviews with Ben Krahn, Ryan Williams, Yearlong Disaster, some pools in the North West? There is this really scary thing on Michael Tubbs, cracking his skull open from both ends, a little street in of all places Washington D.C. which if memory serves me correctly was all about flatland a mere 15 years ago. Shit is tight.

New 'zine out of Portland. This one is made by the same people that brought you Balance a few years ago and it is definitely a step up. Full offset printing, and stitch and trim treatment. While Levil Uniform is more a punk/hardcore 'zine than a skate 'zine it still has enough action shot to stay relevant and ineresting for the average skater. I definitely get the feeling of youthful punk rock, self-awakening and doing what the fuck you want. That is what making a 'zine is about...Skateboarding...not so much, Each issue (at least this one) come with a compilation CD too, which is major bonus. Subscribe for $20/year which gets you 4 issues, 3 compilation CD's and a T-Shirt.

The first video "Self Titled" is an instant classic, no parks, no janky footage, just spot after hard to skate spot, mostly in New York City, filmed to perfection. This is one raw video and really shows what a lot of discipline and and eye for the motion can bring. It is the future and has already happened. There is nothing else to say, buy this video. |

 | Natural Koncept has been around for years and it's kind of hard to believe how underground they still are while producing some high quality gear and killing everyone with their notorious video grab ads. I got a chance to check out the new video, Dysfunctional Family, and it's what you would expect. Seemingly random clip here and everywhere. You might see these dudes, (Josh Zickert, Kale Sandridge, Choppy Omega, Dave 'The Dave' Davis, Brendan Leung, Chris Kays, Chris Kays) and more find the roughest spot from coast to shinning beach, do some fucking drop in off a roof in the snow, then they show up in your city wearing surf shorts and hit the biggest rails. It's brilliant, destructive, creativeness. Totally amped! |
